An application that allows you to relax by lowering your heart rate by defined breathing phases.
It also makes it possible to check its cardiac coherence, which measures the deviations between each successive frequency.
The higher the coherence, the more inner calm, the feebler the inner agitation.
This technique is increasingly used by athletes before a competition or a sporting event in order to be better prepared for it.

The app also calculates the average RSA for the exercise, and store all the RSA to obtain your average RSA all over your exercices.

The exercise is saved, depending the user's choice, either as breath work (blue face image) or yoga (lotus image) activity into the FIT file.

Note

The fourth screen, which displays overall statistics on your last N sessions, is limited to:
- 10 sessions displayed on models with less than 1024 KB of usable memory, and 15 on models with at least 1024 KB, but where the in-app purchase has not been made
- 21 sessions if the in-app purchase has been made (models with at least 1024 KB of memory only) plus display of the second sub-screen (stress history + average RSA) unlocked. This small contribution (the “Unlock Stats” button above) unlocks the display of 6 additional sessions + the second sub-screen, and is therefore not necessary for other models, as purchasing this option will serve no purpose.
To check whether your model has this in-app option, go to the “Tools” menu. If the “Activation Code” submenu appears, it means that you can obtain this option and purchase it. Otherwise, the purchase of the option is useless, and the history will remain frozen at 10 sessions.

Apart from this statistical addition, all other features of the application remain unchanged since its launch and are still completely free!

Purpose of the application

starting from an initial heart rate and tending to a lower frequency at the end of the exercise, in the form of relaxing breathing.

— first of all, you must configure the application according to your needs. To do this, go to the application menu (long press on the UP key - or left slide on touch screens) then select your options as you wish)

— the application creates 12 predefined profiles at the initial start up, which you can configure / modify / delete according to your preferences, allowing you to define predefined standard sessions. If you modify the profile currently selected for the session, your changes will be reflected immediately, both in the profile and on the screen, allowing you to launch the session immediately after your entry. When the application is launched for the first time, all the profiles are automatically generated with random data, and the first profile in the list is selected by default, it is then up to you to go to the profile management to configure each of them at your convenience, and select the appropriate profile:

▪ the breathing mode defines the type of session to be performed: either a number of breaths per minute, or a duration for each inhalation and exhalation

▪ the level of difficulty defines the tolerance of the difference between each variation of heart rate, the lower it is, the easier it is for you to obtain a good consistency result, and vice versa. The high levels require a certain degree of training and practice, otherwise your results and your curve may be very discouraging, so select the level of difficulty according to your level of practice of this kind of exercise.

— the display shows the heart rate at the start of the application and, on the right, the current frequency. You can start the exercise at any time by pressing START

— by pressing START, you start the session with a duration defined by you, ranging from 1 to 60 mn.

— the breathing gauge tells you each time you have to breathe in and out (visually and by vibration and / or tone - options in the application settings). You can choose the breathing by number of breaths per minute or by time (X seconds of inhalation + X seconds of exhalation)
- during the exercise, it is possible to consult at any time the secondary screens

— during the exercise, it is possible to consult at any time the secondary screens

— at the end of the session, the exercise is saved (or not - settings option) as a FIT file under the label "Relax HR" and therefore available on your Connect profile. However, if you do not want to go to the end of the programmed duration, you can interrupt it at any time during the exercise by pressing the START key: you are then offered to cancel or resume the session

The application has 5 different screens, which you can view by pressing the UP or DOWN keys of your watch (or by sliding UP or DOWN on the touchscreen watches):

the main screen, which shows the HR at the start of the session (left) and the current HR (right), with the breathing gauge at the top of the screen.
When your HR becomes higher than your initial HR when launching the application, the right-hand zone turns red; if your heart rate drops below your initial heart rate, the area turns green.

A double ball at the bottom of the screen indicates:
▪ outer circle = whether automatic saving at the end of the session is activated (green) or not (red)
▪ inner ball = type of activity that will be recorded in the FIT file, breath work (blue) or yoga (pink)

When the session is launched, the area on the left will be colored according to your level of consistency:
▪ low coherence = red
▪ medium coherence = blue
▪ high coherence = green

the second screen is divided into two sub-screens:
▪ during an exercise, this screen offers a minimalist display with a large breathing gauge and a timer counting down around the dial.
▪ at the end of the exercise, the screen changes to a polar graph displaying successive HRs as the session progresses, as well as colors indicating the state of cardiac coherence at that moment. The colors correspond to those on the fourth screen (green = high coherence, blue = medium coherence, red = low coherence).

the third screen summarizes the information with a pendulum at the top of the screen indicating the trend since the start of the exercise (downward, steady or upward) The HR at the beginning and at the end of the session, as well as the difference between these two moments.
At the bottom of the screen, the cardiac coherence, which measures the deviations between each successive heart rate: the larger the deviations, the lower the coherence and vice versa. The aim of the exercise is therefore to achieve the greatest possible coherence !
On this screen, a "+" button is displayed when no session is in progress: by pressing the START key (or a TAP on screen for touchscreen devices),, you access the same type of screen but, which, this time, presents the cumulative statistics for the same values, for all your sessions. Pressing START again takes you back to the previous screen. When a session has started, you will not be able to access this screen, so as not to interfere with the process and the objective of the session.

the fourth screen presents a history of up to 21 (or 10) sessions (see image below for further explanation), divided into two sub-screens (you can switch between sub-screens by pressing the START button, TAP on the screen):
▪ first sub-screen: at the top, the HR graph (start, end, and average HR); at the bottom, your cardiac coherence score
▪ second sub-screen: at the top, the average stress history for your sessions; the average RSA for each session

In addition, and in order to be able to reset all these cumulative statistics (global statistics and/or history graph), you can do it by using the "Reset Statistics » under the « Tools » menu.

Respiration in duration

In "breaths in duration" mode, you have the possibility to add a hold time for your breath after each phase of inhalation and exhalation. This delay can be set independently for each inhalation and exhalation phase, and ranges from 0 seconds (no delay) to 30 seconds max.

For example, you could define a session that could look like this:
inhalation:
▪ durée = 7 secondes
▪ retenue = 5 secondes

exhalation:
▪ duration = 10 seconds
▪ hold = 0 seconds (no delay)

or this:
inhalation:
▪ duration = 10 seconds
▪ hold = 10 seconds

exhalation:
▪ duration = 20 seconds
▪ hold = 10 seconds

All combinations are possible !

Exercices

The application includes some pre-defined exercises, of which only some of their parameters can be modified. These exercises are commonly used and are a reference in the field of breathing exercises.

Here is the current list:
▪ the 365: 3 times a day | 6 breaths per minute | for 5 minutes
▪ square breathing or "Sama Vritti"
▪ rectangle breathing
▪ calming triangle breathing
▪ energizing triangle breathing
▪ exercise dedicated to cardiac coherence

Other exercises may be added to the application in the future, based on user suggestions.

The menu of the application is accessible by a long press on the UP key (or a LEFT or RIGHT screen swipe on the tactile models), it gives access to the modification of the background color (black or white), the duration of the session, the number of breaths, the accuracy of cardiac coherence calculation and all other options (breathing mode, gauge color, etc.)
The parameters of the application will allow you to choose these values, as well as the color of the breathing gauge, enabling or disabling tones and vibrations, etc.

Note: you have now the possibility to choose the intensity of tones and vibrations during the exercise period:
You can set this feature here: Options -> Tones -> Intensity et Options -> Vibes -> Intensity
     ▪ tones -> only one possible on SDK compatible models <3.x. For all others, choice between bass - medium and treble sound
     ▪ vibrations -> for all models, choice between 5 intensities (from 5 - very low to 25 - very high) by increments of 5

This functionality has been added to allow users who activate tones and / or vibrations during the session to reduce the discomfort or disturbance they may possibly cause. Thus, the feeling on the wrist is much more subtle and therefore, less disturbing.

You can quit the application by pressing the BACK button (swipe RIGHT on touchscreen devices).

Touchscreen models
A certain number of touchscreen models benefit from screen shortcuts, allowing instant access to certain parameters of the profile selected on the screen, as well as changing the background color and the type of FIT activity that will be recorded (yoga or breathing activity). See the detailed image below showing you the affected areas of the main screen.
If you own a touch screen model, but these screen shortcuts do not work, that means your watch is simply not compatible with this shortcut management.

Quick access menu
On models with a compatible touch screen, and compatible with SDK version 3.4.0 minimum, a long press on the lower right area of the screen opens a quick access menu to certain functions, thus saving you from having to navigate the main menu and its sub-menus to access these functions.

CC High-> Low: corresponds to your percentage of coherence in the 3 zones of coherence.
So here, for this example, it gives:
- 50.0% of the time of the exercise in good coherence
- 47.8% of the time in medium coherence
- 2.2% of the time in low coherence
